Germany:
The project company Solarkraftwerke Südeifel GmbH & Co KG, whose largest shareholder is Enovos Renewables GmbH from Saarbrücken, is building eleven solar plants in the southern Eifel with an expected total output of 214 MWp.
BayWa r.e is procuring and supplying the more than 380,000 solar modules required for this. Construction is scheduled to start next June, with full commissioning planned for the end of 2023. Once completed, the solar plants will be able to supply around 60,000 households with renewable electricity.
Direct feed-into the high-voltage grid
The special feature of the South Eifel photovoltaic project is, on the one hand, its dimension and, on the other hand, the direct feed-in of the electricity from the eleven solar plants via a common cable route into the high-voltage grid. Furthermore, the plants are designed for future retrofitting of large-scale storage systems. This would allow solar power, which is mainly generated in the midday hours, to be accessed in the evening hours as well.

Alexander Schütt, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Solar Energy Systems GmbH, comments: "We are very pleased to be part of this extensive project. Here we can make full use of our size, experience and good relationships in the market. After all, we have been working successfully with many of the partners involved, such as Schoenergie and LONGI Solar, for a long time and are therefore well positioned to meet the current challenges of the solar market."
Cooperation with other regional companies
Marc André, Managing Director of Enovos Renewables GmbH, added: "We value BayWa r.e. as a strong and reliable partner and look forward to implementing this innovative project together with other regional companies. Our new solar plants will decisively advance the supply of renewable energies in Rhineland-Palatinate." (hcn)
