Juwi Shizen Energy, the joint venture founded in 2013 between the German project developer juwi and the Japanese developer of wind and solar farms Shizen Energy, has successfully completed the construction of a ground-mounted solar park in the Japanese province of Nagano, where the 1998 Winter Olympics were held. The fact that juwi Shizen Energy is a specialist in the construction of large ground-mounted solar parks with challenging terrain topography also benefits this project. The three-hectare solar park is located on a former ski slope.

The Japan joint venture has successfully implemented several projects of this kind in the recent past. Currently, the company is building a 121-megawatt solar park on the site of a former golf course in Sanda City in Hyogo Prefecture, which is located in the Kansai region northwest of Osaka on the island of Honshū. The annual yield will be about 143 million kilowatt hours. The solar park is scheduled to be commissioned in December 2023. It is the largest project in the history of the Japanese joint venture.
