“We have about 25,000 company cars, which produce around a quarter of our total emissions,” Markus Wagner, in charge of the fleet conversion at headquarters, explains. “By 2020, we want to have replaced 5,000 cars with electric vehicles. Our employees will be able to choose from a variety of models.”
Worldwide, SAP employs 80,000 people. The annual turnover is almost 21 billion euros. That makes them the world's fourth largest software company. SAP has been experimenting with adding EVs to their fleet since 2011, and so far has already got 500 of them as company cars. Staff can charge their cars in the company car park for free.
A cooperation with Bosch
SAP is located in the Rhine Neckar region, which is pursuing very ambitious goals for electric mobility. Also, they have entered a cooperation with Bosch for developing public charging infrastructure in large urban areas.
The electricity for the EVs comes from renewables, just like the power supply for the so-called SAP Cloud, which 110 million users worldwide have signed up for. Around the world, SAP has 120 subsidiaries, with the headquarters and development centre being in Walldorf. Further development labs are in the US, in France, Canada, Israel, India, Australia, Japan, China, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland.
The DAX-listed group has about 296,000 clients, including many large corporations and stock-listed companies. It is estimated that there are about 12 million users of SAP products. (HS)
