Together with Vodafone, MOWEA has already launched a pilot project at the end of 2019. At the beginning of 2022, the startup then received its first order for 752 wind turbines from Vantage Towers, a subsidiary of the Vodafone Group. Serial production of the first 1,000 turbines is now in full swing, MOWEA says. The first delivery is scheduled for September.
Easy integration into the EMS of a mobile network
The wind turbines can be flexibly combined by customers according to their needs and integrated into existing infrastructures. For example, as a small generator in the field of telecommunications, real estate or industrial applications. In addition, the company offers communication interfaces for intelligent control and remote maintenance of the turbines. A plug & play interface enables easy integration into the energy management system of a mobile network.

Up to two thirds of the electricity demand of the radio masts could be covered by the small wind turbines. The electricity is only consumed on site and not fed into the power grid. MOWEA stands for "modular wind turbines". The company is a spin-off of the TU Berlin.
New in the Small Wind Market Report 2022
MOWEA was also included as a newcomer in the Small Wind Market Report 2022. Only manufacturers with an independent reference are presented in the Small Wind Market Report. This does not have to be certification according to IEC 61400-2, which would probably be much too expensive for micro wind turbines. By the end of August, the start-up wants to raise new money via a crowd investing campaign on the Econeers platform. The current main investor is a family of entrepreneurs from southern Germany.
