The Sunfire-Home heating unit supplies electricity and heat for residential buildings thanks to efficient combined heat and power generation. It is based on an innovative solid oxide fuel cell or SOFC. The small CHP systems are used in single-family homes and apartment buildings, both in new-build and existing buildings. The system can be run on natural gas or liquid gas and can be combined with commercially available building technology, such as battery storage, solar systems and heat pumps. The Sunfire-Home system thus increases the degree of self-sufficiency and reduces energy costs in the long term.
The fuel cell cogeneration unit delivers up to 750 watts of electrical and 1,250 kilowatts of thermal power, thus covering the basic load requirements of a normal single-family home. According to the manufacturer, the more then 250 systems in the field have together accumulated a total of over three million hours of operation. (mfo)
