Axpo enters Spanish market with 200 MW PV plant

As Switzerland's Axpo is thus making a substantial contribution to the expansion of climate-friendly electricity production in Europe.

Axpo's growth is focused on markets in which the company has been offering tailor- made energy solutions to customers for several years. Axpo has been active in Spain for 20 years.

With the know-how gained from over 15 years of experience in the solar sector, Axpo will also serve a strategically important market in Spain. The activities in Spain are part of Axpo's ambition to develop a total of ten gigawatts of solar power by 2030.

200 MW solar plant in Vilecha

In the last quarter of 2023, Axpo will begin the construction of one of its largest photovoltaic plants – 200 megawatts - in the area located in the municipalities of Villadangos del Páramo and Cimanes del Tejar, all in the province of León, Castilla León.

This is a ground-mounted plant in which 365.000 solar panels will be installed on an area of 307 hectares. The plant can produce the annual electricity requirements of more than 76.000 Spanish households. Its development will involve more than 900 professionals.
