Last year, the installed PV capacity on the Balearic Islands increased by 40 percent to around 321 MW. Construction of the new ground-mounted solar plant in Binissalem on the Spanish island of Mallorca recently began with a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony.
The project with an output of 11.66 MW will generate around 17,976,36 MWh of clean energy per year and thus supply more than 7,200 households in the region with green electricity every year.

The ground-mounted photovoltaic system will use 17,700 bifacial Canadian Solar modules, each measuring 2.30m x 1.30m. The Binissalem solar park is scheduled for completion and grid connection in September 2024.
Over 300 days sunshine per year
“Spain and the island of Mallorca in particular are promising markets for us, as the island offers great potential for solar energy with over 300 days of sunshine per year,” emphasizes Miguel Velasco, Head of PC Iberoamerica at Goldbeck Solar.
